Start with posture
Relax your shoulders, lengthen your spine and shift your weight slightly rather than standing square to the camera. Small changes often look more natural than dramatic poses.
Give your hands a purpose
Rest a hand lightly on a jacket, hip or nearby prop. Avoid pressing fingers tightly into your face or body. Keep movements soft and deliberate.
Change one detail at a time
Turn your chin, adjust your eye line or move one shoulder between frames. This helps a photographer capture useful variations without interrupting the flow.
Practise expressions
Try neutral, thoughtful, relaxed and smiling expressions in a mirror or short self-timer session. Aim for believable emotion rather than copying every pose you see online.
Build confidence through repetition
Comfort develops with practice and clear communication. Choose collaborators who explain their direction respectfully and allow time to learn.
